Progress Report

Just a quick note to keep you folks up to date on the new and hopefully much-improved ComicBookMarks site. I’ve just completed migrating (and double-checking) all the data. So all the official professional links to comic-related sites are now back. I’m still tweaking the look of the site overall, but the bulk of it is done.

Why the change and what’s it mean going forward? In short, the old CBM site was built in HTML with a bunch of other code and databases tied in. To add even 1 new link was a little involved. To add any real meat (like a Spotlight book) was a bit involved. Now that I’ve ported the entire site into a blog structure, it’s a gazillion times easier to add/edit/delete links anywhere on the site. I can also add a number of neat fun “widgets” (which is just a fancy tech term for a small module that can contain just about anything), and best of all, I have this blog news function which makes it incredibly easy for me to post content as well.

What do I plan on writing about? Could be a little of everything, as long as it’s tied to comics. For the most part though, I plan on just running short interviews/bios on creators, possibly some reviews of recent books I’ve read, and definitely some spotlights on comic sites out there. Best of all, with the blog format, you can easily leave a comment attached to each post (including this one). So please do let me know what you think as the site grows. It’d be not only helpful to me in terms of what direction to push with content, but… well, it does get real lonely out here in cyberspace at times. So even just a quick “hi” can go a long way. Y’know what I mean? Uh, hello? Anybody there? Sigh…
